Jason English wins (another) 24hour event. At the recent Scott 24hour at Canberra, Jason English stormed home with an amazing 399klms in under 24hours.
I'll let Jason tell it in his own words though...
"As promised another weekend, another race. This time it was at Canberra against some of the best 24hr riders in the World.
My preparation wasn't ideal for the race as I had sore legs for the whole week from the previous 6 hour. As we were traveling down the day before, my carbo - loading was made up of meat pies and sald bits and pieces and I could tell after a few hours! "

"The Scott 24hour was a huge event, there were people and sponsor tents everywhere! The Jet Black Products flags were flying all over the place. I need to offer them a big thanks as they sorted me with Niterider lights.
As the race was sponsored by Scott, they thought that they would bring over the Euopean 24hr champion to take on the Aussies.
The race started at a stupid pace, I for some stupid reason wasn't taking it very seriously and decided to charge off the front with some other rider who were going miles too hard. After half a lap a local Trek rider smashed off the front and had me a little worried. I spent the next couple of laps riding with the euro 24hr champ and he was flying on the uphills but I was sure I had him covered on the downhill, he was riding a hardtail! A few more laps around and I was lapping with the specialized 6 man team before I settled down to a more managable pace.
I was planning on doing a few laps on the BMC Team Elite 02 hardtail bike while the BMC Trailfox dually would be getting cleaned, oiled and lights fitted or removed however, the course turned out quite harsh and I decided to lose time and stop in order to stay on the dually. I think having 2 duallied is the go for 24hr racing at Stromlo.
By the time morning came around I had about a 1hr lead so I tried to take it a little easier as the stromlo repeats were started to hurt a little! I also found company in riding around with some of the sleeping solos who decided to bust out a few laps after a nap.
Last year the top 3 places were made up by Andrew Bell, the NZ National champion and me, this year it was Andrew again, the Euro champ and me! The Aussies are unbeatable!
I need to also thank Jen for again busting herself for 24hrs as drink station manager, My parents for driving us home so we could work on monday, the corc club for a massive event, and BMC for the bikes. "
