Ibis bikes Print E-mail
ImageImageWhen designing the Mojo Carbon, Ibis realised the need for a suspension design which took full advantage of technological advances in the material. So they turned to suspension genius Dave Weagle for help and licensed the dw*link. ImageOffering 5.5" of plush, efficient rear wheel travel, the Mojo Carbon can be built up as an epic/race bike or as one "that is very capable of putting you into situations where you maybe should not venture."
When specing the build kits for the Ibis bikes, we looked at value for money, performance, reliability and of course... quality. I mean... you can't throw just any parts onto a 5.5" travel, sub 6lb carbon frame bearing the Ibis moniker.

The Mojo SL frame.

4.93lb frame and rear shock (large frame)... Our brains were hurting after spending countless hours of cad and engineering time developing the Mojo, so we took a little bit of time off. It wasn’t a lot of time-maybe a weekend-and we already were thinking about ways to improve the Mojo. That’s how we are. Fast forward more than a year and way more than a thousand Mojos later and we present to you the MojoSL. Let’s get right down to it, because our brains are starting to hurt again.

• Sub 5lb Frame/swingarm/rear shock (size large). • Complete bike weight 21.9lb. • Ultra high modulus fibre enhanced lay-up. • Carbon fibre head cup. • Carbon fibre dropouts with stainless steel sheath. • Carbon fibre seat tube insert. • DT Swiss SSD Carbon shock. • 6-4 Ti fasteners and shock pin. • Carbon fibre main pivot tube. • Special rubber paint (durable, easy to clean). • Carbon monocoque frame and swing arm. • 5.5" (140mm) rear wheel travel • DW-Link Suspension. • Forged and anodised links (now available in designer colours). • Easy to service pivots and bearings. • Choice of 3 complete builds: SX bike, XT bike and XTR bike. • Also available as frame only. • Clear, brown or grey.

ImageHave you had a chance to ride one of the newer carbon fiber road bikes? One with a carbon fork and one of the 10 speed groups? Maybe with a nice wheelset too that lets it bump against that UCI mandated 6.8Kg weight limit? If not, man (or woman or girl or boy) are you in for a treat. If so, you understand what we're talking about when we say the Ibis Silk Carbon is the nicest riding road bike we have ever ridden. It's stiff and smooth in all the right places. Feels great in a sprint or while you're sitting in the saddle all day on an easy cruise. It goes up hill like it was not piloted by one of us Ibisians, but instead by someone named Fausto or Eddy.

Carbon technology in the bike industry has made tremendous strides in the last few years, and there are a lot of good bikes out there. We think ours is among the best.

The frame is carbon monocoque, an exceptionally durable and lightweight method of frame construction. Our 58 cm size weights 1030g. That's two pounds and a little bit of change. Or if you prefer, it's about the weight found in 1.5 standard sized water bottles (filled, duh). The dropouts are lightweight compression molded carbon fiber. There's a replaceable hanger too. You can get it as a complete bike, or just a frame only
