Ellsworth frames Print E-mail
ImageOnly the finest materials, 5-axis CNC machining, aerospace CAD/CAM development and manufacturing standards are employed in bringing each model to life.

Ellsworth finishes frames in our tough-as-nails shot-peened and anodized surface with laser-etched graphics; it costs more, but our frames will last a lifetime and so will the finish—why bother with anything else?

We take pride in our meticulously hand-built bikes—produced only in limited quantities for riders that demand the best money can buy. None of our models carry rider weight limits, and we back all frames with an industry-leading limited warranty against manufacturing defects and workmanship.

Designs are proven through continual racing, testing and prototyping, ensuring the Ellsworth bike you ride is at the pinnacle of technology, value and riding enjoyment.

Truth

Few bikes have achieved the cult status of the Ellsworth Truth. The Truth is an overwhelming choice amongst the endurance mountain biking elite. Whatever the discipline -- 24-hour racing, XC racing, 100 milers, marathon or adventure racing -- the Truth pays dividends by maximizing your pedaling efficiency and minimizing your physical fatigue. Behind the Truth are two defining concepts: Instant Center Tracking (ICT) and the four-bar suspension.

ICT is a patented concept that allows Ellsworth’s engineers to create an extremely efficient suspension design. ICT aligns the Instant Center on the chain torque line, so your pedaling motion won't activate the suspension.

Image

The four-bar suspension is a "fully active" system, meaning it's free to compress and rebound at all times, both when the rider is in the saddle and standing up. As the suspension compresses, Ellsworth's design causes your rear wheel to move vertically, not in the arc-shaped path seen on most single-pivot bikes -- this is accomplished with a Horst-like pivot, strategically placed so as not to interfere with either the Specialized patent or the near vertical path of the wheel. Not only is the suspension independent from chain forces under pedaling loads, but it allows you to maintain an efficient pedal stroke since the suspension action has no effect on it. There is no shortening or lengthening of the chain during the shock cycle, so you'll feel no suspension-induced "kick-back".

The ICT and the four-bar combine to provide the Truth with 4" of plush travel without compromising the quickness and stiffness one requires to tackle the gnarliest of climbs. Its 16.7" chainstays paired with a 70.2 degree head angle ensure quick and stable handling through winding singletrack or descents – qualities that make the Ellsworth Truth an ideal XC, adventure racing or marathon bike.

The hard-anodized, laser-etched Truth showcases the quality of Ellsworth's made-in-the-US craftsmanship -- externally shaped tubing (with internally tapered butting you can't see) forms the solid foundation for the exquisitely CNC-machined rockers, which join the rear swingarm with sealed cartridge bearings. Finished with precision welds, it is clear that no detail has been left to chance -- something that becomes even more apparent once you saddle up this lightweight machine.

The Truth comes equipped with a custom-valved, Fox Float R shock, but can be upgraded to an RP23. The Truth is ideally mated with a 100mm fork, but Ellsworth states that anywhere in the 80-105mm range is acceptable.

The Ellsworth Truth is available in 14, 16, 18 and 20" sizes in Black, Blue, Smoke, Red Velvet or a special edition Pink as part of Ellsworth's Project Pink, which gives $50 from each Pink frame purchase to cancer research. The Truth is disc specific and requires a 27.2 mm seatpost and a 34.9mm traditional top pull front derailleur. It has a replaceable derailleur hanger.

Epiphany

The Ellsworth Epiphany replaced a longtime fixture in the Ellsworth family, the 5" travel Id. The Epiphany packs 5.25" of travel into a scant 5.75 pound package, made possible by the use of a beautifully machined magnesium rocker and US-produced, proprietary drawn, internally taper butted, externally shaped tubing.

Ellsworth’s approach to the Epiphany was to take the lightweight, nimble characteristics of the Truth and mesh it with both an all-mountain approach and the relaxed geometry of the 6" travel Moment. The result is remarkable, and the Epiphany is poised to be the perfect bike for every discipline from XC to All-Mountain. Thanks to Ellsworth’s patented ICT design, the Epiphany maintains the quickness and the climbing prowess of the Truth despite its longer travel.

Ellsworth ICT is a patented concept that allows Ellsworth’s engineers to create an extremely efficient suspension design. ICT aligns the Instant Center on the chain torque line, so a rider’s pedaling motion won't activate the suspension.

The Epiphany's efficient four-bar suspension design is anchored by a new seat tube pivot assembly, reinforced for strength and machined for both weight and aesthetics, ready to gobble up virtually any terrain. A monocoque asymmetrical chainstay provides stiffness and clearance, ensuring smooth shifts and power in every stroke.

Named Gear of The Year by Outside Magazine in 2006, few, if any, bikes can match the combination of weight and travel offered by the Ellsworth Epiphany. Ellsworth meticulously machined away every gram of unnecessary material to maximize its lightness without compromising durability. This Epiphany is plush, lightweight, incredibly stable, and tough as a tank.

Like the Truth, the Epiphany comes equipped with a custom-valved, Fox Float R shock. It can be upgraded to an RP23. Either way, you get sealed cartridge bearings at each of the pivots. Ellsworth recommends a fork with 105 -- 140mm of travel to optimize the Epiphany’s handling.

The Ellsworth Epiphany is available in 15, 17, 19 and 21" sizes in Black, Green, Smoke, Nebula Blue or a special edition Pink as part of Ellsworth's Project Pink, which gives $50 from each Pink frame purchase to cancer research. It is a disc-specific frame with a replaceable derailleur hanger. The Epiphany requires a 27.2 mm seatpost and a 34.9mm traditional top pull front derailleur.

Moment

Not everyone has the luxury of owning a full stable of bikes. It'd be great to have one for all-mountain assaults, one for the occasional XC race, and one with a bit more travel for when you just feel like cruising. Fact of the matter is that it's just not reality for most. Ellsworth provides us with an all-in-one option in the Ellsworth Moment -- its name derived from the fact that it takes advantage of the moment in almost any situation. The versatile Moment is a long-time member of the Ellsworth family, featuring 6" of the most efficient all-mountain travel available. Built with a touch more heft than the Epiphany, the Moment is ready to tear up the trails and dive down descents.

The Moment, like the Epiphany and the Truth, benefits from a four-bar suspension and Ellsworth’s ICT technology. It utilizes Ellsworth’s internally taper butted, externally shaped tubing, finished with laser-etched graphics and a hard anodized finish. The Moment oozes of hand-crafted goodness. For 2006, the Moment receives a newly designed rocker arm and an asymmetric chainstay for added clearance and stiffness.

The Ellsworth Moment isn't the ideal XC bike, but thanks to its efficient design it can cross over in a pinch. Looking at the gusseting, reinforced bottom bracket shell, and dutifully machined rocker arms, clearly this is a bike designed to be tough and lightweight, allowing you to go most anywhere -- up or down.

The Moment comes equipped with a Fox DHX 5.0 (coil) shock. For those of you striving to shave nearly a pound off the weight, it can be upgraded to the DHX Air. Ellsworth recommends a fork with 125 - 160mm of travel to make the most of the Moment -- we recommend the Rock Shox Pike, a natural mate.

The Moment is available in 15, 17, and 19" sizes in Black, Grey, Blue, or a special edition Pink as part of Ellsworth's Project Pink, which gives $50 from each Pink frame purchase to cancer research.. It is a disc-specific frame with a replaceable derailleur hanger. The Moment requires a 27.2 mm seatpost and a 34.9mm traditional top pull front derailleur.

Evolve 29er'

Ellsworth has taken their uber-efficient, cult classic, Truth, and applied 29er geometry to produce a lightweight, big-wheeled 4" travel rocket, the Ellsworth Evolve. ICT provides the Evolve with 4" of plush travel

without compromising the quickness and stiffness one requires to tackle the gnarliest of climbs. Its 18" chain stays paired with a 72° head angle keep the wheelbase to a minimum and ensure quick and stable handling through winding singletrack or descents.

Rogue

For those of you that felt the geometry of the Ellsworth Dare was too in between to handle downhill or freeride properly, the Ellsworth Rogue is ready to answer the call. Though the Rogue comes equipped for 8" of travel, you have options for 6 or 7" by changing your shock. The Rogue is an all-mountain assault vehicle ready to take on anything you’re up for, and more.

Handcrafted from Ellsworth’s proprietary internally taper butted, externally shaped tubing, it's built tough with additional gusseting at the head tube seat tube and top tube. Designed around and stocked with a Fox DHX 5.0 shock, we suggest running fork with more than 150 of travel, most ideally, a 180mm. Not only is the Rogue tough, it is versatile – it can accept single or double crown forks; single, double or triple rings and tension devices; and while it comes equipped with a replaceable derailleur hanger and may accept 12mm or 20mm axles, it can accept 10mm or traditional quick release axles with the use of a simple conversion kit. Further, it’s three different travel settings make it uniquely capable in most any situation.

Image

The Rogue’s ICT-tuned, four-bar suspension extends its usable travel. A union of the ICT design, 67 degree head angle, and a comparably short 17.4" chainstay (when set up for 8" travel), allows for the Rogue to gobble up most any terrain – up or down. Utilizing Ellsworth’s internally taper butted, externally shaped tubing, the Rogue is finished with laser-etched graphics and a hard anodized stealth Black or the mysterious Smoke finish.

The Ellsworth Rogue is available in 16 and 18" sizes in Anodized Black, Smoke or or a special edition Pink as part of Ellsworth's Project Pink, which gives $50 from each Pink frame purchase to cancer research. It is an ISCG equipped, disc-specific frame. The Rogue requires a 27.2 mm seatpost and a 34.9mm traditional top pull front derailleur.

Dare

After over two years of rigorous testing by the Maxxis team. The new Dare is ready for release. The front end uses a pseudo-monocoque construction with two formed aluminum sheets welded down the centre in combination with conventional tubes. Out back, the new Dare has 9" of ICT rear wheel travel.
